COVID-19 Cases increase to 187

Marengo County’s sees no increase in deaths for two weeks

Marengo County’s confirmed cases of COVID-19 increased over the past week, but the increase was smaller than the two previous weeks, according to the Alabama Department of Public Health.

As of Tuesday morning, the total number of cases in Marengo County stands at 187. That represents a total increase of 16 over the past week, from Tuesday, June 2 through June 9. Deaths related to the coronavirus has not increased over the past two weeks.

Testing for the coronavirus continues to be available at Whitfield Regional Hospital. The Rural Health Medical Program is offering testing each Monday. Call 844-736-7629 to set up an appointment. Additional testing supported by Walmart, Quest Diagnostics is being held on Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Demopolis National Guard Armory. An appointment for testing can be at www.MyQuestCOVIDTest.com, but on-site scheduling also will be available.

Tuesday’s updated COVID-19 data for surrounding counties includes: Sumter County has reported 248 cases and nine deaths; Wilcox County has 179 cases and seven deaths; Greene County has 102 cases, five deaths; Hale County has 209 and 11 deaths; Clarke County, 161 cases and three deaths; Dallas County is reporting 353 cases with five deaths; Choctaw County has 157 cases and 10 deaths; and Perry County is reporting 52 cases with no deaths.
