Keep up with local players in action Saturday

If you’re looking for something to keep up with over the weekend, there is a full slate of games that could feature players from Marengo County schools.

Twenty-two local players find themselves on college rosters, and last week, half of those saw action on the field.

Five former local players, including Ty Morgan, T.J. Hinton, Justin DeLaine, Martaze Jackson and Hollis Bright, play at UWA, and the Tigers will host Shaw University at 6 p.m. Saturday evening in Livingston.

Former Demopolis Tiger Steven Foster and the South Alabama Jaguars will take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs at 3 p.m. Saturday, and the game will be televised on ESPNews.

Linden’s Terris Lewis and Demopolis’ Taylor Polk saw the field last week for the Troy Trojans, and this week, Troy will take on Abilene Christian at 6 p.m. The game will be on ESPN3.

Alabama State and former Linden defensive back Najee Bright will battle Mississippi Valley State at 5 p.m.

Former Demopolis receiver Larry Cobb and Sweet Water’s Demarcus Gamble and the Tuskegee Golden Tigers will face Albany State at 3 p.m.
