Schools release calendars for 2009-10 school year

Area schools released their schedules for the upcoming school year.

For students in Linden City and Marengo County Schools and Marengo Academy, the first day back will be on Monday, Aug. 10. Demopolis City Schools students, are to report on Tuesday, Aug. 11.

All schools will have the Labor Day holiday on Monday, Sept. 7. Marengo Academy will have a teacher professional day on Monday, Oct. 5, while Demopolis City, Linden City and Marengo County schools will have one on Monday, Oct. 12.

Marengo Academy will observe the Veterans Day holiday on Monday, Nov. 9, while Demopolis City, Linden City and Marengo County schools will observe the holiday on Wednesday, Nov. 11.

All schools will take a full week off, Nov. 23-27, for Thanksgiving holidays.

All schools will dismiss for the Christmas-New Year holiday on Dec. 18. The first day of the second semester will be Monday, Jan. 4, for Marengo Academy and Tuesday, Jan. 5, for Demopolis City, Linden City and Marengo County schools.

Demopolis City, Linden City and Marengo County schools will observe the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on Monday, Jan. 18, and all schools will observe the Presidents Day holiday on Monday, Feb. 15. Demopolis City, Linden City and Marengo County schools have also designated Feb. 15 as a possible day to make up class time lost to bad weather.

Spring Break for Demopolis City, Linden City and Marengo County schools will be the week of March 15-19, while Marengo Academy will take its Spring Break the week of March 22-26.

Linden City and Marengo County schools and Marengo Academy will observe Good Friday on Friday, April 2, with Linden designating that date as a possible weather make-up day.

Demopolis City Schools will have a spring holiday on Friday, April 23, also designating that date as a possible bad weather make-up day.

The final day of the 2009-10 school year will be Friday, May 21, for Marengo Academy and Wednesday, May 26, for Linden City Schools and Marengo County schools, while Demo-polis City Schools will close for the school year on Friday, May 28.
