Lee signs with Belhaven College Blazers

Demopolis High School senior tight end Michael Lee signed a National Letter of Intent with Belhaven College of Jackson, Miss Thursday to play football for the Blazers. Belhaven is a member of the national Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) of the Mid-South Conference.

Lee was the starting tight end for the DHS Tigers since his sophomore year. As a senior, Lee was given several DHS senior awards for his contribution and dedication to the Tigers 13-1 2003 football season, as well as several awards for his outstanding athleticism on the football field. Those awards included: Team Captain, Best Offensive Lineman, Player of the Week (on numerous occasions) and the Iron Bunch. Lee was also chosen to the Tuscaloosa News West Alabama 4A-6A Super 11 Team.

As a junior, Lee was given awards for All-State Honorable Mention, Second Team Honorable Mention from The High School Christian Student/ Athlete All American Program, Birmingham News pre-season all-state candidate and was nominated for the Wendy’s High School Heisman Award.

Lee is also a member of the National Honor Society, Beta Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Anchor Club.
